NAIROBI - Kenyan security forces claim to have mastered the Westgate shopping mall in Nairobi after a three day siege Somali militant group, Al Shabab, which has killed dozens of victims.

Kenya Military Commander Julius Karangi said the gunmen came from various countries. Somalis are not only dual citizenship who are members of Al Shabab forces, but also from the UK and USA. "They come from different countries. This is global terrorism," said Julius Karangi, as reported by the BBC (24/9).

Kenyan security forces had taken control of all floor shopping center Nairobi which was attacked by militants of al-Shabab. Kenyan Foreign Minister Amina Mohamed, say, two to three Americans and a British woman involved in the attack.

Kenyan troops entered the Westgate shopping center, on 24 September 2013 while the others did the siege. "The terrorists can run and hide in some stores, but all of the floor is now under our control. There is no room to escape," said Julius.

The BBC's Mike Wooldridge in Nairobi reported previously Kenyan Interior Minister Joseph Ole Lenku states if the perpetrator is a man who disguised women. This led to media speculation about the possible involvement of Samantha Lewthwait, widow of one of the people who carried out the attack on the London transport system on July 7, 2005.

In terms of casualties, Kenya Red Cross said 63 people remain unaccounted for. So far at least 62 people were killed with over 170 injured.

Somali militant group, Al Shabab, which has links to Al Qaeda, claimed responsibility for the deadly attack. They attacked the luxury shopping mall, Westgate, one of the most exclusive shopping malls in the capital visited by many foreigners.
