CALIFORNIA - As many as 2.9 million Adobe customer data containing sensitive information had been stolen by hackers using a very sophisticated method of site.
" The attackers managed to break access password and is encrypted customer payment card numbers , " said Brad Arkins Adobe Security Division as reported by the BBC on Friday ( 4/10 ) .
Adobe said it is now investigating the illegal access of source code for a variety of products , including Adobe Acrobat and ColdFusion .
" We deeply regret with this incident , " he continued .
He explained that based on the findings to date , Adobe is not aware of any specific risks increase for its customers as a result of this incident .
But Chester Wisniewski , a senior adviser at Internet security firm Sophos , told the BBC that the access to the source code can be very serious .
" Billions of computers around the world using Adobe software . If hackers successfully embed malicious code in a software update that looks official they could potentially take control of millions of machines , " he said .
" It's on the same level as a Microsoft security breach , " he added .
Adobe said it is investigating assisted internet security writer Brian Krebs and security expert Alex Holden . Both found the cache 40GB Adobe source code in the middle of the investigation an attack on three data providers in the U.S. , Dun & Bradstreet , Kroll and LexisNexis
