After three years of development , the fuselage ( body helicopter ) Cougar finally completed . The helicopter was designed by Eurocopter , the helicopter industry is headquartered in France and is the copyright holder of the Cougar helicopter .
Originally PT Indonesian Aerospace ( PT DI ) to assemble this helicopter over the booking of four Air Force units . Eurocopter Cougar then send the design . However , design is not yet perfectly delivered .
" At first we were like subcontracting , they provide design , we are working on . But this is different . Drawings given to us was not yet ripe . Yet and still could be a component of many errors . We help design into the design intact , " said Sonny Saleh Ibrahim , Head of Communications PT DI , Wednesday ( 23/10/2013 ) .
For his part in designing the Cougar , PT DI would benefit . " Finally, we are also investing in , but production investments . Tools him so our tools . So , then one day as other countries buy at Eurocopter Cougar , components are made here , and send to France , " said Sonny .
PT DI to be a strategic partner Eurocopter . This has been going on for three years since the Air Force reservation in 2010 . PT DI in charge of working on the fuselage and tail boom ( helicopter tail ) while developing the design . Propellers and the rest done by Eurocopter .
After receiving the design to manufacture fuselage and tail boom , PT DI work is handed over to Eurocopter for the engine and other components fitted . Helicopters still not completed due to be submitted back to PT DI for mounting electronic components and others. When completed , the helicopter capacity of 22 people may be submitted to the Air Force as a buyer .
What about mounting arms at the Cougar ? " For the weapons used was produced by PT Pindad , we are going to put it up . If imported , the Air Force will personally install because they were out , " said Sonny .
Not only with Eurocopter , similar cooperation was also conducted by PT DI to the Airbus company . PT DI become a global supplier . " Global suppliers , we make components for Airbus or Eurocopter , the aircraft used throughout the world , " said Sonny .

Making helicopter in PT DI starts with the type of NBO 105 in 1976 , followed by the NSA 330 Puma and Super Puma NAS 332 in 1982. Two years later , in 1984 , PT DI produces more NBell 412 .
EC 725 Cougar himself worked since 2010 , followed workmanship Bell 412 - EP in 2011 . Cougar helicopter itself is an evolution of the Super Puma NAS 332 . Until now, the Super Puma NAS 332 has produced as many as 20 units . Most of the production is used by the Air Force
