Brussels (ANTARA News) - The Secretary General of NATO-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen on Saturday (14/9), welcomes the framework agreement on the elimination of US-Russian chemical weapons Syria.
"This is an important step towards the elimination of the target ensures fast, safe and can be justified on Syria's chemical weapons stash. Full and unconditional compliance is the key now," Rasmussen said in a statement, Xinhua reported.
On Saturday morning, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov to reach an agreement on a framework to secure and destroy chemical weapons Syria later than mid-2014 and the United Nations to impose penalties if the government of President Bashar al-Assad's compliance.
"The international community has a responsibility to ensure that the old norms and action against the use of chemical weapons is maintained, and expressed the offenders responsible, said Rasmussen.
NATO leaders also said kesekatan it should give further momentum for a political solution to end the Syrian conflict.
